What is Spiritual Direction?

Simply put, spiritual direction is a relationship through which we come to better know, love, and follow Christ with the help of a kind of spiritual coach. It is a process through which we come to know and love Christ and ultimately experience the heights of spiritual union with Him, even in this life. The director and the directee work together, through the grace and guidance of the Holy Spirit, to understand God’s will and then determine how to follow that leading in a concrete way on a day-to-day basis into a deeper intimacy with Him.

Spiritual Direction takes place in the context of monthly meetings where the director and directee review such topics as:

1. The general state of your soul since last spiritual direction
2. Difficulties or failures in your moral life since your last spiritual direction
3. The effectiveness of your desired progress phrases from the last spiritual direction
4. Progress on and results of the concrete actions chosen after your last spiritual direction
5. The main points of your plan of life
6. Challenges and progress in your prayer life
7. The quality of the key relationships and responsibilities of your state in life
